It’s not too late for furniture cleaning. Even the most neglected of upholstery can come a long way. In reality, though, it all depends on several factors. Type of fabric, soil load, type of staining, and strength of fabric.
In this particular example, our client had a chair that had been in the family for a long time. This beloved chair had collected the dirt and dust from years of just “sitting around.” It looked like it was too dirty to be cleaned successfully. Didn’t look like it had much chance of being “presentable” again.
But with a little work, progress was made. You can see how on the right, the fabric did clean up. (These are old phone photos, so sorry about the quality).
In particular, notice the fabric on the arm rests. A difficult spot to clean, but it also came a long way. However, with fabric that is worn or threadbare, it’s not possible to make it look like new. For obvious reasons. But it can still be cleaned. Better to have a ripped and clean chair than a ripped and filthy one, right?
